Tara Flynn, actor and comedian
Tara Flynn has done stand up for many years and is a regular voiceover artist in ads. She’s a core member of Dublin Comedy Improv. Her TV roles include Irish Pictorial Weekly, Moone Boy and Stewart Lee’s Comedy Vehicle. She’s the author of You’re Grand: the Irishwoman’s Secret Guide to Life. She has MC’d award shows such as the Sharks in Kinsale and ICAD and contributes to radio and TV panel discussions.

01 When are you happiest?
On a day off, at home with my husband, the dog and the cat and my Netflix list. Boring, I know, but you did ask
02 What’s your most treasured possession?
Now that they are digitised and I don’t do jewellery… my photos
03 Facebook, Twitter or LinkedIn?
Twitter. I’ve only a passing relationship with the other two
04 What’s the worst job you’ve ever done?
Wrapping crystal figurines in a mall. I’m sure something broke every time
05 Your favourite writers?
Margaret Atwood, Ian McEwan, loads and loads of comedy writers – Tina Fey, Nora Ephron, David Sedaris, Stewart Lee…we’d be here all day
06 Last music you bought?
A Martin Hayes’ piece for my Dad’s funeral
07 A film you’d watch again tonight?
Blazing Saddles
08 What do some people think about you that isn’t true?
That I’m confident. I’m really, really shy; I’m just good at hiding fear
09 What keeps you awake at night?
Financial stress, same as everyone
10 Which words do you overuse?
“Awesome” – but then I live in hope things will turn out that way
11 Your favourite ad?
The Be More Dog campaign for 02 really makes me laugh
12 Your favourite gadget?
My smartphone
13 A brand experience that disappointed you?
I try to keep mixing it up so brands never disappoint me
14 What living person do you most admire?
Colm O’Gorman has been most impressive in the face of bigotry in the run-up to the Marriage Equality Referendum. I’d like to be more like him when I grow up
15 Most embarrassing experience?
Tripping onstage in a short skirt with my back to the audience
16 Someone or something that strikes you as beautiful?
Beaches are beautiful, no matter what the weather
17 In what other era would you like to have been born?
Pagan-era Ireland, before we got all repressed
18 Best advice you’ve heard?
Persevere
19 What would be your fantasy act of heroism?
Running back into a burning building to save my pets
20 You’re on Death Row, what’s your last meal?
A toasted bagel with hummus and sundried tomatoes. And a bottle of champagne so I could try to forget it’ll be my last
