Clancy takes over as Carat managing director

L-R John Clancy and Dave Winterlich

John Clancy is the new managing director of Carat Ireland. The appointment coincides with Dave Winterlich’s promotion to chief strategy officer with the media agency’s parent group, Dentsu Aegis Network Ireland. Winterlich will be responsible for the group’s strategic direction. Clancy’s new role will also involve developing Carat’s future leaders.

Before moving to Carat as group business director a year ago, Clancy was managing director of ZenithOptimedia. Carat has also made three internal promotions. Kathryn Pugh is now AV manager, Caroline Mullen becomes senior account manager and Eoin Corrigan account manager. Oilbhe Doyle has joined the agency as account director from OMD.

Gavin McGuinness joins as senior account manager from PML and Alan McAuley becomes a digital account manager and Harry Eustace account executive. Carat clients include Bank of Ireland, Diageo, Dunnes Stores, Glanbia, FBD, Kellogg’s, Adidas and Newstalk.

Clancy’s promotion at Carat follows the appointment of his brother, Michael, as managing director at MediaVest. Michael Clancy followed on from Aidan Greene’s promotion to deputy CEO at MediaVest’s parent, Core Media, run by former Carat executive, Alan Cox. Nicola Gillen, Helen O’Rourke and Colm Sherwin are now board directors at MediaVest.
