ABC launches more flexible rules
ABC has introduced more flexible reporting options for paid weekly newspapers in the Republic of Ireland. Following a review of the current system, where publishers are required to report their circulations every six months, the body agreed paid weekly newspapers can now report circulation annually if they choose to do so.
PHD boss Jason Nebenzahl said as a rule agencies place more value on an independently audited publication than a publisher’s statement. But as the economic environment is proving difficult, agencies welcome the decision by ABC to offer an annual audit option as a way in which to alleviate cost for some newspaper publishers.
