Ireland's ad galacticos star in RTE documentary

Some of the best known names to grace Ireland’s advertising industry between 1960 and 1980 feature in a one-off documentary to be shown in on RTE 1 Television in early September. ‘Ireland’s Mad Men’ will profile some of the most popular and successful ad campaigns and will include interviews with top agency creatives.
Among those contributing to the programme are copywriter Catherine Donnelly, whose campaigns included Barry’s Tea and Ryanair; Martin Wright, whose art direction at McConnells and Bell was widely acclaimed for years and Breandan O Broin, ex-CDP creative director and Marketing magazine columnist.
Frank Sheerin, ex-creative director of Arks and who was responsible for the Guinness ‘Island’ commercial – voted Ad of the Century by Marketing magazine readers in 1999 – is also interviewed.
