Javelin big winner at Smart awards

Javelin Group took centre stage at the An Post Smart Marketing Awards 2015 taking home nine prizes, including the coveted Agency of the Year. The Smithfield-based agency was honoured for campaigns it devised for Arnotts, BT Communications, Toyota, Lexus, Irish Ferries and Focus Ireland. Javelin’s Joe Dobbin, Kyla O’Kelly (above) and Ken Ivory were on hand to accept the awards, along with agency creative and client service teams.

Among Javelin’s clients in attendance were Steve Tormey from Toyota Ireland and Arnotts’ Lou Conlon, who headed up the Wonder card launch. An Post sales and marketing director Liam Sheehan and Fiona Heffernan from the direct mail unit presented awards. Other winning agencies included Rothco, taking home four awards for Eircom’s Meteor, along with the grand prix. Client Lisa Comerford and her marketing team accepted the honours.

Ignition picked up three awards for SuperValu and VHI Healthcare, while DDFH&B Group’s RMG won two awards for Fáilte Ireland and Laya Healthcare. RMG’s sister agency, Goosebump, Target McConnells, DMCM and Starcom also went home with gongs. 123.ie was voted marketing team of the year for its ‘Easy As 123’ campaign. The student campaign winner was Pádraig O’Connor from UCC for his ‘The Business of Keeping Ahead’.

Tasked with judging this year’s entries were John Concannon, programme director for Ireland 2016; Una Fitzgibbon, director of marketing, Bord Bia; Paul Cooke, chief executive of the awards’ media partner, Sunday Business Post; Eithne Harley, director of integrated marketing, Accenture and Bill Kinlay, cheif executive of Mindshare Ireland.  Sponsors included Geo Directory, RR Donnelly, Neopost, Sensorpro and One4All.
