Monahan Newstalk’s new programme boss

Patricia Monahan has been appointed as programme director at Newstalk 106-108 FM. Deputising for Newstalk’s editor in chief, Garrett Harte, Monahan is now responsible for day to day programming management, implementing the station’s content strategy and identifying and training new talent. She is also in charge of developing programming to maximise JNLR and commercial growth consolidate the station’s news and current affairs output.

Monahan has worked for Newstalk since 2002 where she initially worked as a researcher on Lunchtime with Damien Kiberd before going on to produce the Lunchtime News programme for two years. She produced programmes across the schedule and was involved in the national launch in September 2006. A native of Ballyjamesduff, Co Cavan, she became deputy editor in May 2010 and helped launch The Pat Kenny Show in September 2013.

She has a BA in English and history from TCD and an MA in journalism from DCU.
