Mr Tayto promotes park in 3D

Mr Tayto 3D

Ireland’s top snack food brand Tayto is running a new TV, cinema and social media campaign to promote its theme park in Co Meath. Shot in 3D, the ad sees Mr Tayto taking on the high ropes, tackling the totem poles and braving the park’s attractions. For the first time, the cartoon character is blended into real-life action.

Largo Foods has returned to LA-based Challenge Entertainment to make the ad. The agency created the controversial rugby ads for Hunky Dorys. The creative director was David Kirwan, brother of Tayto’s marketing manager, Rita Kirwan. It was co-produced by Max Films and Jackie Leonard of Kavaleer Productions.

Leonard has considerable animation experience in her role at Brown Bag Films. The commercial was directed by Feidhlimidh Woods and 3D animation was by Gary O’Neill at Zink. Post production was by Windmill Lane, with Locky Butler in charge of sound. Music was by Steven Rennicks and Hugh Drumm at Sponge.
