Switching providers pays off for consumers

By changing broadband, mobile phone or electricity provider four out of five consumers save money, a National Consumer Agency (NCA) survey has shown. Switching one’s mobile phone provider is most popular, particularly among young people with 41 per cent of 15-24-year-olds making the switch due to peer pressure and promotions.
Ann Fitzgerald, chief executive, NCA, said 69 per cent of Irish consumers who have switched providers felt the move paid off by them getting a better service. The survey was conducted by Amarach Research over four weeks in May and June. There were face-to-face interviews with a nationally representative sample of 1,000 people aged between 15 and 74.
