Taste of Dublin boss settles €120k bill

Avril Bannerton

Events organiser Avril Bannerton, who is managing director of Taste of Dublin, which runs at the Iveagh Gardens this week, settled a bill of €120,000 for underdeclaration of vat, the latest list of tax defaulters released by the Revenue shows. A former Image businesswoman of the year winner and Aer Lingus hostess, she also organises the Top Gear and 7Up on Ice shows.

About 35,000 visitors are expected to attend this year’s Taste of Dublin festival.

Bannerton first bought the Taste events licence for Ireland from London-based Taste Festivals  in 2005 and held the franchise for five years. She bought the licence back in 2013 from new owner IMG Arts Entertainment. She plans to revive Taste of Christmas at the end of November 2016. The event has the potential to attract up to 20,000 people.

The tax defaulters list covers the period from the start of January to the end of March 2015.
