TV3 plans second series of Gogglebox

TV3 has commissioned a second series of the TV watchers favourite watchers show. Gogglebox Ireland has been on screens just shy of nine weeks and already the series has been a major talking point with the Tully Twins from Cavan, Tracie and Anita from The Liberties, The Gruffertys from Kildare and The Ryans from Limerick all becoming household names.

Gogglebox Ireland reaches 375,000 viewers on average weekly. To date, over 1.3 million people have tuned in to the watch the show. Narrated by comedians Deirdre O’Kane and Rory Cowan (pictured), the series sees a host of opinionated and avid TV viewers comment freely on the best and worst TV shows screened in the past week.

TV3 group director of programming Bill Malone said everyone out in Ballymount is delighted with the reaction to the first series. “The casting is superb,” the former RTE senior executive said, “with the likes of Tracie and Anita capturing Ireland’s love affair with TV, from the moments that make you think to those that make you laugh out loud.”

Producers are already on the hunt for new households.
