U2 concert to be streamed on YouTube

The U2 concert in the Pasadena Rose Bowl in California in the early hours of next Monday may reach millions of the Irish band’s fans as it will be streamed live on YouTube from 3.30am Irish time. The concert will be available in 16 countries. Fans will be encouraged to comment via a Twitter feed and make donations to Bono’s Red charity.
The broadcast is the first of its kind to be hosted by the video-sharing site and is seen as a way for YouTube’s owner, Google, to boost advertising by moving beyond hosting short clips into streaming feature films, TV shows and concerts. U2 views the move as a marketing opportunity to widen its audience base.
