Former chairman and chief executive of Dentsu in Ireland Liam McDonnell has been appointed as a director and board member of FirstLight, the organisation that provides support, help and counselling to parents bereaved following a sudden infant death. FirstLight’s story began in 1975 with the Berry family and the death of their son, Brendan.
McDonnell brings more than 40 years of experience in marketing services, strategic leadership and governance. He has held executive board roles with Saatchi & Saatchi, BBDO (Irish International) and Aegis UK. He is a fellow of the Marketing Institute of Ireland (MII). He now works as an adviser, mentor and coach with various organisations.
Roles
He has also served in senior non-executive roles with Norwegian Air and the Marketing Institute of Ireland, where he was company secretary and head of remuneration. He is a past president of the Institute of Advertising Practitioners (IAPI), now the Creative & Communications Association (CCAI), and a former council member of the Marketing Society.
