McQueen sings praises of Ford Mustang

Chad McQueen with Ford Mustang

Chad McQueen, son of the late Hollywood actor Steve McQueen, has been on a promotional tour in Ireland for the Ford Mustang. The #MustangRun, devised by Geometry@Ogilvy, with media planning and PR by Mindshare and Cullen Communications respectively, was a five-day tour of Ireland with McQueen driving the new 5.0 litre V8 Mustang GT.

The campaign, covering broadcast, video and social content, promoted the Mustang’s availability in Ireland for the first time as a right hand drive. Actor, race car driver and producer Chad McQueen visited Ireland for Mustang road show in tandem with Today FM’s Dermot & Dave show, drawing crowds to live broadcasts in Galway, Limerick and Cork.

Prizes on offer included one listener winning a 10-day drive on the west coast of America in a Mustang. Chad’s dad, Steve McQueen, drove a Mustang GT in Peter Yates’s thriller Bullitt in 1968. The movie’s famous car chase around the streets of San Francisco has regularly topped the polls as the greatest and most realistic in cinema history.

The #MustangRun trended on Twitter throughout the campaign and the videos produced have over 100,000 views so far. The five 90-second films focus on the elements that make the Ford Mustang one of the world’s most iconic cars.
