NCH reports record attendances

World famous Chinese pianist Lang Lang performs at the NCH in February. The New York Times described him as “the hottest artist on the classical music planet”

The National Concert Hall reported attendances of 342,568 for 2009, up by 5,048  on 2008,  a new record for the Earlsfort Terrace venue. Average percentage capacities for last year were 77 per cent at the NCH.

Rosita Wolfe, marketing director, NCH, said they promoted 692 events during the year, 347 which were in the hall’s main auditorium, a significant increase on the previous year.

A broad range of programming led to the record ticket sales, totalling €8,231,910, a three per cent increase on 2008 sales.
