Expose TV3

Independent commercial TV channels like TV3 and Setanta Ireland will see airtime increase from 15 per cent to 20 per cent if a draft ruling from the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland (BAI) gets approval. Should the proposal go ahead, advertising on independent channels will increase from ten to 12 minutes an hour.

The BAI is now inviting members of the public and interested groups to submit their views on the draft rules.

The hourly limited of ten minutes per hour has been in operation since the Broadcasting Act of 1988. But a new act sanctioned last year allows for the minutage to be increased to 12 minutes an hour. Pictured above is Lisa Cannon from TV3’s Xpose entertainment series about celebrity life.
