Boys and Girls up and running

A new Dublin advertising agency largely made up of former McConnells executives promises to provide a “fresh offering” and a “new way of doing business”, co-founder Pat Stephenson has told Marketing.ie. Stephenson is joined at Boys and Girls by Fiona Scott, Chris Upton, Margaret Gilsenan and Patrick Meade, all ex-McConnells, along with Rory Hamilton.
While job titles are said to count for little at Boys and Girls, Scott is expected to return to her customary media director role, following less than a year as managing director of McConnells. Stephenson, Upton and Meade will be account directors. Hamilton, a copywriter with McCann Erickson, Irish International BBDO and Ogilvy, is creative director.
A rumour doing the rounds that ex-McConnells director Greg Jones may become part of the new agency has been firmly denied. British adman Andy Law, who made a name for himself at ChiatDay, set up an agency called Boy Meets Girl after he left St Lukes in the late 1990s.
Boy Meets Girl was based on “liberation management” where the most senior person in the agency was supposed to act as a trainee. Law now offers marketers an international network of niche advertising experts and he’s represented in Ireland by Dave ‘Disco’ Kelly.
