Brendan Hughes has taken up the position of chief digital officer at Independent News & Media (INM) where he will oversee the management of the group’s digital platforms, including the Independent.ie news website with over 10 million unique visitors per month. Hughes will be responsible for long-term online strategies to help grow and develop the business.
Fiona O’Carroll was managing director of digital and left INM this time last year. John O’Shea has since been interim head of digital.
Hughes’s most recent role was as commercial director of Boyle Sports, specialising in digital. He was previously with Intuition, VHI, FBD, Ubiquity and Etruvian in Gibraltar. He has a master of science in multimedia systems and a higher diploma in education from TCD.
Cormac McNulty now has the role of INM’s group director for mergers and acquisitions.
McNulty will work closely with INM’s CEO, Robert Pitt. He joins from HSBC Investment Bank where he was an associate director and has over 10 years’ corporate finance and investment experience with HSBC, JP Morgan and Eisvogel Capital. He holds an MBA from UCD’s Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School.
