Ornua, owner of Ireland’s first €1 billion food brand, Kerrygold, is taking consumers on a nostalgic trip down memory lane with a fresh take on its iconic ads. TV viewers are once again invited to contemplate ‘who’s taking the horse to France?’ and Ireland’s favourite butter brand relives famous lines such as, ‘put a bit of butter on the spuds, Andre!’.
The original Kerrygold ads were written by the late Catherine Donnelly at Irish International.
The ‘Tastes Change, Taste Never Does’ campaign runs across TV, print and digital until the end of December, where a unique creative marries the retro-style of Kerrygold’s classic campaigns with the juxtaposition of a contemporary backdrop, thereby prompting a visual reiteration that the appeal of Kerrygold butter never goes out of fashion.
The Kerrygold brand was created by Tony O’Reilly in 1962, CEO of the then Bord Bainne. The aim was to establish Kerrygold as a premium brand, extolling the rich quality of Irish milk. The brand’s story is to a large degree the story of Irish family farming. Irish diaspora spot the familiar golden foil packaging in shops around the world and it is an immediate link to home.
