Vodafone rings in another four years with IRFU

Vodafone Ireland has extended its sponsorship of the Irish Rugby Football Union (IRFU) for another four years in a deal said to be worth over €15 million a year. The new deal, which will run through to 2024, sees the mobile phone operator continue as the lead sponsor of the Irish rugby team and communications partner to the IRFU.

The agreement also sees Vodafone become the official sponsor of the IRFU Women’s Interprovincials. The new deal starts next July. Events, activations and content will be targeted at rugby fans and all Vodafone customers in Ireland, including the ongoing #Team of Us advertising and sponsorship activities, social content and ticket competitions.

Exclusive, instant match highlights for Ireland’s home games are on the My Vodafone app.

Ahead of the Rugby World Cup (RWC) in Japan, Vodafone announced the ‘Ireland’s Ball’ campaign. In partnership with Gilbert, Vodafone created a world first ball grip that features the fingerprints of 32 people representing the island of Ireland. The ball will travel to Japan with the team as a symbol of the #TeamOfUs support for Irish rugby.

The TV ad was created by JWT Folk working to Vodafone’s Gerry Nixon and Jane Lawrence.
