To mark World Television Day, RTÉ TV Sales will deliver a broadcasting innovation this weekend. In 1996, the United Nations (UN) General Assembly proclaimed November 21 as World Television Day, to recognise the growing impact of TV and its ability to educate, inform, entertain, foster democracy, encourage freedom of speech and create a range of innovations.
Each year, RTÉ joins with broadcasters from across Europe to support the day, running on and off-air activities. This year, RTÉ is building on the activities to deliver an Irish and European ‘Broadcasting First’ with TV ad break innovation. RTÉ Television is to run a series of special ad breaks this Saturday – World TV Day.
Each ad break is set to give viewers an entertaining, behind-the-scenes look at the people who work in Ireland’s media agency groups, including Group M, Core Media, Dentsu Aegis Network and in RTÉ TV Sales. The special breaks will air from RTÉ’s Nine News and throughout The Ray D’Arcy Show on Saturday.
