Aon in new deal with Man United

Insurance broker and human resources firm Aon has signed an eight-year deal worth an estimated £157 million to become the title sponsor of Manchester United’s training ground and kit. Aon has been the club’s shirt sponsor since 2009, but will be replaced by the General Motors-owned car brand Chevrolet from next year as part of a record £365m seven-year deal agreed with the club managed by Sir Alex Ferguson.

In a bid to maintain links with Man United and its growing fan base across Asia, the new deal will involve the club’s training facilities at Carrington being renamed the Aon Training Complex. Aon will also replace courier company DHL as the club’s training kit sponsor. Man United became the first English club to separate the sponsorship for its playing and training shirts three years ago.

Wayne Rooney

Aon will also become presenting partner for all Manchester United pre-season tours in the coming eight seasons, including trips this year to Bangkok, Sydney, Yokohama, Osaka and Hong Kong. Man Utd are at home to local rivals Man City tonight in what could be a Premier League decider. Wayne Rooney (above)  is expected to start. The Red Devils are currently 15 points clear at the top of the Barclays Premier League.
