Ashford Castle has been voted the top resort hotel in the UK and Ireland in the US travel magazine Travel + Leisure annual reader survey. In all, as many as eight luxury Irish hotels made the top 10, with Ballyfin Demesne, Powerscourt Hotel Resort & Spa, Sheen Falls Lodge, the K Club, Ballynahinch Castle Hotel, Dromoland Castle and Adare Manor also featuring.
Every year, Travel + Leisure asks its almost five million readers to weigh in on their favourite hotels, cities, travel providers and more, in its annual world’s best awards. The magazine recently unveiled the results of this year’s survey, which including its league of the top resort hotels in the UK and Ireland. To view the results, click here
The news comes as Fáilte Ireland runs its ‘Ireland, Make a Break for It’ campaign trying to persuade Irish people to holiday at home this summer. Research showed that 70 per cent would consider a domestic holiday but only 57 per cent intend to do so. Without the usual high numbers of overseas visitors, capacity in many hotels and B&Bs remains high.
