Boys and Girls renamed for Referendum

With the referendum on marriage equality, ad agency Boys and Girls is showing its support for the Yes campaign by changing its name. During the month of May and until all votes are cast on Friday, anyone visiting the agency’s website www.boysandgirls.ie are greeted with a blue Boys and Boys or pink Girls and Girls button called Choose on the home page.

Clicking on one of the options leads viewers to a message which reads: “To show our support for marriage equality, we’ve changed our branding for the month of May. Choose either Boys and Boys or Girls and Girls but choose #YesEquality2015 on May 22”. Pat Stephenson (pictured above), the agency’s client service director, said by taking the step of renaming the business they were living their creative philosophy of ‘Daring Simplicity’.

“It’s direct, to the point and hopefully engaging – the reaction we’ve had has been very positive,” Stephenson said. We’re hoping that the Yes vote will be carried and this is our small part in that hoped for outcome.” Launched six years ago with half a dozen staff and one client, the business now has 38 employees and a client list which includes Three Mobile, Irish Distillers Pernod Ricard, Nissan, Topaz, Danone, Dulux, RaboDirect and Digicel.

The agency recently moved from Pembroke Road to a new office in Dublin’s Portobello area.  The site of a former primary school, it was transformed into an imaginative work space.
