Britney is gifted revenue by Facebook

Britney Spears is hoping to exploit her popularity on Facebook by selling ‘virtual gifts’ for $2 a pop, Brand Republic reports. The singer, who has just short of two million Facebook fans and who is currently on a world tour, has a range of branded gifts which can be sent between users of the social networking site.
There is one free gift available, an image of the biker’s hat often worn by Spears on stage. The rest costs 20 credits, or $2, and include a birthday cake, a picture of the schoolgirl uniform worn in her ‘Baby One More Time’ video and various photos of the singer.
Pop singers recognise the benefit of building their fan base through Facebook and Twitter as a way of self-promotion, but now they may see the value of exploiting social networks for other revenue streams.
It is not known if Facebook will share revenues from the sale of Spears’s gifts.
