Cunningham voices radio ads for Simon

BBDO Dublin created the latest appeal for the Simon Community which shows how the changes brought about by the Covid-19 coronavirus crisis into our daily lives are toughest on the most vulnerable members of society. The pro-bono campaign includes press, digital and social, with radio spots voiced by Game of Thrones star Liam Cunningham.

The ads mirror the language used about self-isolating, social distancing and being stuck with kids in the ongoing emergency and contrasts it with the challenges homeless people face. For instance, a digital banner has the phrase ‘Self-isolation is harder than I thought’, something with which the general population is currently grappling.

The ad gradually loses words and letters to reveal the phrase ‘Isolation is hard’, the reality that homeless people face daily. Dublin Simon CEO Sam McGuinness said it is a terrible time for all of us, with the virus changing the way we live in ways we could have never imagined. “But, for vulnerable members of society, it’s an extra layer of desperation and difficulty that could be devastating. The campaign makes sure those people are not forgotten,” he added.
