A marketing push to encourage consumers buy Irish language book this Christmas has been launched by Foras na Gaeilge, the Irish language promotional body. The campaign includes radio competitions on Today FM, Newstalk, Raidió na Life, Raidió Fáilte and RTÉ Raidió na Gaeltachta.
Prizes include a library of Irish language books for a local school. FnaG says there is a wider range of Irish language books available this year, from interactive learning books for young children, to multimedia books with a combination of songs in print and on CD.
The range of titles includes the shortlist of 12 books from Leabhar na Bliana – The Book of the Year Awards. They include well known authors such as Gabriel Rosenstock, Seán Ó Tuama, Siobhán Parkinson, Tadhg Mac Dhonnagáin and Colmán Ó Raghallaigh.
