Rocking 'n' rolling for Barretstown kids

Corporate sponsors are sought for the rock ‘n’ roll sequel to this year’s inaugural Inspirations musical event with major Irish and international acts performing in aid of the Barretstown camp for children affected by cancer and other serious illnesses.

In February, Sinéad O’Connor sang the Beatles, Fun Lovin’ Criminals performed Led Zeppelin, Republic of Loose sang the Rolling Stones and Shane MacGowan, The Blizzards and the Dublin Gospel Choir were also part of the show at The Academy.

The follow-up event will be staged early next year in the Olympia and with Ray D’Arcy back as MC. The evening will feature a retrospective of some of Barretstown founder Paul  Newman’s greatest movie moments.

Organiser Gary Cohen, who worked in advertising as an account handler with Young Euro RSCG and The Larkin Partnership, said sponsors are being offered a corporate package for €10,000.

“We know times are tough,” Cohen said, “but €3,500 will send one child to Barretstown for a life-changing summer camp by rebuilding their lives through a programme of therapeutic recreation.”

Interested sponsors should email garycoh@gmail.com.
