Organisers of the Irish Grand National at Fairyhouse on Easter Monday are in the market for a new sponsor following an announcement by Irish Distillers Pernod Ricard (IDPR) that its Powers Whiskey brand is to end its ten-year links after the famous race is run next April.
IDPR will continue with the Powers Gold Cup which is raced on Easter Sunday, April 4th. This relationship dates back to 1960 and is said to be the longest-running sponsorship in the history of Irish racing.
Caroline Gray of Fairyhouse Racecourse said she was confident of finding a new and appropriate brand to sponsor the Grand National and “take over the reins of this iconic race and make it their own”.
