Investec and Horse Sport Ireland (HSI) has become the first ever corporate sponsor for the Irish show jumping team. The partnership sees the finance house sponsoring Team Ireland’s involvement in next month’s Discover Ireland Dublin Horse Show at the RDS and FEI European Championships at Aachen in Germany. It is a key stage for HSI as Ireland’s show jumpers focus their efforts on qualifying for next year’s Olympic Games in Brazil.
The value of Investec’s investment was not disclosed.
Ireland has nine riders placed in the world top 100, with Bertram Allen (pictured) ranked number five. Allen, Capt Michael Kelly and Greg Broderick attended the announcement. Investec has been involved in Irish sport sponsorships for many years, supporting golfer Paul McGinley for 23 years. They have had ties with Leinster rugby star Jonny Sexton since he was 17. The company took over as Monaghan GAA’s backer a few years ago.
