Fast-food restaurants staffed by people over 60 help increase profits and improve customer satisfaction by an average of 20 per cent, McDonald’s has reported. The experience of older staff, their work ethic and dealing with people face-to-face were cited as reasons for the improvement.
But despite the findings, which were based on studies at Lancaster University Management School in Lancashire, England, McDonald’s does not plan to employ older staff in all its restaurants. McDonald’s this week reported its seventh successive month of increase global sales but The Irish Times has announced that sales rates in Ireland this year are expected to hold fast at around €190 million.
