Peter McPartlin is to step down as chief executive of Today FM, the national entertainment station owned by Denis O’Brien’s Communicorp radio group. The resignation was sudden and unexpected. In a media statement, McPartlin said he intended to explore new opportunities, both from a personal and career point of view, while he can still do so.
He was also chief executive of TXFM, which he helped rebrand from Phantom.
McPartlin joined Today FM as CEO four years ago, replacing Willie O’Reilly, who left to become commercial director at RTE. He had been strategic director at Carat and media director at Irish International. He also worked with Dimension and Arks. He is both highly regarded and a popular personality in Irish advertising and media.
