98FM has a new breakfast duo with Rebecca Shekleton and Brendan O’Loughlin taking to the airwaves from March 16. 98FM’s Big Breakfast (7am-10am) promises to be an instant shot of “get up and go” weekday mornings, as the pair keep Dublin listeners entertained with music and giveaways, along with the latest news and traffic updates.
The news that Shekleton and O’Loughlin are taking over the early morning slot follows the sudden departure of Steven Cooper and Luke O’Faolain who hosted their final show last Friday. The pair had been on the airwaves since 2016. Following their departure, a spokesman for 98FM said that a new line-up would be announced shortly.
Shekleton and O’Loughlin created the Shrine of Duty podcast, an homage to the BBC’s popular crime drama Line of Duty. The pair appeared on TV last year to meet the show’s star Adrian Dunbar, who congratulated them on their podcast. As 98FM’s entertainment reporter, Shekleton interviewed Hollywood stars Ben Affleck, Rebel Wilson and Seth Rogan.
She also hosted her own weekend magazine show, Saturday Social.
O’Loughlin has been at 98FM for over 10 years, during which time he anchored news bulletins. He recently picked up a gold IMRO award for news broadcaster of the year. Awarded music station of the year for the past two years in a row, 98FM has a weekly audience of around 200,000 people and boasts a million fans across social media.
