TV3 News will broadcast a series of special reports on suicide in Ireland next week. Southern correspondent Paul Byrne spoke to people who have direct and painful experiences of losing loved ones. They talk about the surprise, anger and suffering they encountered since someone close to them took their own life and what they have done since a tragedy to help them cope.
The Samaritans received over half a million calls from people feeling suicidal last year. Studies showed that 74 per cent of those people who contacted the Samaritans changed their minds about taking their own lives. Produced by Conor Tiernan, the reports will go out on TV3 news bulletins Monday to Friday next week.
