Greed is good and lunch is for wimps. So Michael Douglas told us in Wall Street. Drama returns to New York’s financial district with a mini-series called Billions on Sky Atlantic at 9pm tomorrow. Homeland’s Damian Lewis is lean and mean hedge fund king Bobby ‘Axe’ Axelrod. Paul Giamatti (Sideways) is lawyer Chuck Rhoades set on taking Axe down.
But as Rhoades’ missus works for Axe, his plans don’t run smoothly. Axe’s empire is built on inside information and dirty backroom deals. A Machiavelli-type character, he’s driven to win at all costs but Rhoades will do anything to make the self-made billionaire pay for his crimes. It’s a high stakes war where each must answer the question: What’s power worth?
Malin Akerman stars as Lara Axelrod, Axe’s loyal, street-smart wife.
To mark the premiere, Lewis opened the market at the London Stock Exchange today.
Billions is also available on Sky Box Sets from tomorrow.
