Vital Voices marks International Women’s Day

This year Ireland will join thousands of women globally as Dublin hosts its first ever Vital Voices global mentoring walk this Saturday on the eve of International Women’s Day. President Michael D Higgins  will receive a delegation of Vital Voice’s European board and some of the mentees and mentors in advance of the historic walk.

Vital Voices is sponsored by Bank of America and the Matheson law practice network.

Some of Ireland’s most high profile women leaders from business, public life and politics will join with a host of people to walk through the city of Dublin  joining the many other walks worldwide designed to  inspire the next generation of leaders through mentorship. The Dublin walk is organised by business woman Norah Casey, pictured.

Casey is the Vital Voices global ambassador and European board member.

Vital Voices was created 21 years ago by Hilary Clinton and Madeleine Albright to make space for women to be heard,” Casey said. “Our founders knew then what has now become a universal truth: that women are essential to progress in their communities. Our world cannot move forward without women’s full participation.”

“We need women and men to join together to reach down and help women to take that step up on the ladder towards success, to give them the confidence to believe they can fulfil their true potential,” Casey added. As they walk, they discuss their personal and professional challenges and successes to establish a mentoring relationship.
