After what can only be described as an annihilation of Dublin by Kerry in the football championship quarter final on the August bank holiday Monday, it’s anyone guess who will be brave enough to replace Arnotts as the Dubs’ shirt sponsor. Among the names that have been bandied about are Vodafone (biggest GAA advertiser on RTE television), Bank of Ireland, Axa and Samsung.
Arnotts has sponsored Dublin GAA for 18 years. Sales of Dublin shirts in Ireland are second only to Manchester United. One in three replica GAA jerseys sold is the Dublin brand. But given the Dubs poor form outside of Leinster in recent years, some potential sponsors may have second thoughts.
