Cork's Red FM crew in their studios. Cork’s Red FM are celebrating after completing the Treble at this year’s PPI Radio Awards including the prestigious Music Station of the Year.
The ceremony which is the highlight of the Radio calendar each year was held on Friday night at the Lyrath Estate in Kilkenny. Comedian and radio DJ Dermot Whelan presented the Awards which were attended by over 700 guests from all over Ireland.
In addition to winning Music Station of the year Cork’s Red FM also went home with Best Breakfast Programme for the KC Show and Best Interactive Speech Programme for the Neil Prendeville Show.

The dramatic story of the birth of Irish radio during the 1916 Rising will be re-enacted on air simultaneously by 37 radio stations nationwide on Monday, April 25 at 5.30pm, one hundred years to the original date and exact time of the declaration of the Irish Republic, Ireland’s first broadcast to the nation and the world.  In a joint initiative between RTE Radio and the Independent Broadcasters of Ireland (IBI) a highly evocative 80 second morse code themed radio experience titled “The Sound of Sixteen” imagines the battling sounds and dangerous atmosphere of the times.
