Javelin acquires Brand Social

The Javelin Group has taken a controlling stake in digital agency Brand Social. Discussions have been ongoing between the two agencies for several months and the acquisition, for an undisclosed sum, was completed before Christmas. Brand Social, will be based in Javelin’s offices in Smithfield, bringing the enlarged group’s staff total to 36. Brand Social will be rebranded as Javelin Digital later this year.

Ken Stanley and Ray Doyle will continue as managing director and creative director respectively. Joe Dobbin, Conor Kennedy and Paul Myers founded the Javelin Group in Dublin in 1986. The three, along with Paul Moy, founded a breakaway agency from McConnells called KMMD. Javelin Group clients include Toyota, Bacardí, Irish Ferries, Davy Select, Focus Ireland, Arnotts, Betfair and BT (British Telecom) Ireland.

Ruth Payne heads up Javelin’s media and Kyla O’Kelly the agency’s below the line services.

Brand Social was established in 2009 as specialists in digital and social media marketing. Their core service offering includes digital and social strategy, mobile advertising, digital creative services and programming. Clients include Universal Pictures, the Digital Marketing Institute, GreenLetterbox.com and the IMI.
