Nearly four-fifths of advertising agencies in Ireland expect industry turnover to increase this year and over half of them predict employee numbers to rise, the latest industry census by the Institute of Advertising Practitioners in Ireland (IAPI) indicates. The survey was conducted online by Amárach Research in April and May and comprises interviews with 45 of the 49 agencies which are IAPI members, a 92 per cent response.

As a sign that the industry may be turning a corner, employment levels in agencies rose by 20 per cent last year. The average age of an agency employee is 35, while a third of employees are under 30. The study shows agencies remain anxious about retaining talented staff and hiring suitably skilled employees.
