BBDO Dublin has been appointed as agency of record for Tourism Northern Ireland, a non-departmental public body of the Northern Ireland Department for the Economy, responsible for the development of tourism and the marketing of the Six Counties as a tourist destination. The account was previously handled by Belfast agency Genesis.
Responding to a brief about attracting visitors from the South, BBDO Dublin emerged as the successful agency from a strong national and international field of agencies, and was awarded two lots: strategic and lead creative agency as well as design, marketing and content agency. The agency will work to the body’s director of marketing Naomi Waite.
Waite said the appointment follows the launch of a new experience brand aimed at helping to create an economic uplift for the tourism product in the North. “BBDO showed us some great thinking and a great campaign idea and we can’t wait to start working together,” she added. Tourism NI also works closely with Ireland’s other tourism bodies.
