C&C confident cider sales will stabilise

After announcing a decision to adopt separate strategies for the Irish and UK markets, drinks group C&C is confident that sales of Bulmers and Magners cider will stabilise this year. John Dunsmore, chief executive, C&C, said.
The drinks group pulled off a €205 million deal to buy the Irish and Scottish businesses of Anheuser-Busch InBev. The deal gives C&C ownership of such brands as Tennent’s, Stella Artois, Beck’s, Hoegaarden and Leffe.
C&C will distribute Budweiser in Scotland and will take ownership of the Wellpark brewery in Scotland. Tennent’s has a 55 per cent on-trade share in Scotland. Tennent’s Super and Tennent’s Pilsner remain with ABI.
