Chemistry is taking over an entire commercial break in the last of the current series of Matt Weiner’s Mad Men going out on RTE 1 late on Easter Monday. The agency has links with the adland-based soap having won a competition run by RTE Media Sales inviting agencies to create stings for the third season.
The ad break will feature an uninterrupted 140-second promo, which Chemistry created for showing during the episode. It is thought to be the first time ever that an Irish ad agency – in fact, possibly any agency anywhere – has bought an entire TV ad break purely to promote its marketing services.
Chemistry said the marathon spot marks the first time in Ireland that a whole break has been dedicated to one advertiser. CDP once block booked an entire break before the Late Late Show on RTE for its clients. But at 140 seconds long, Chemistry will boast the longest commercial shown on Irish TV.
