Former Saorview director Mary Curtis had been appointed head of channel at UTV Ireland with responsibility for overseeing all programming content and leading the development of the new channel across all platforms. She was director of digital switchover and responsible for RTE Television’s digital strategy. Prior to that, she was RTE’s deputy director for TV programmes with responsibility for commissioning and programming.
As a member of RTE Television’s board of directors, she directed the strategic review of RTE’s services portfolio. At UTV Ireland, she will work alongside managing director Michael Wilson, with responsibility for strategic planning. Curtis left RTE last September to advise state bodies and businesses on public affairs. Her appointment follows UTV’s recruitment of TV3 executives Daragh Byrne, Paula McCarthy and Deirdre Stokes.
