Companies interested in entering this year’s Bord Bia Food & Drink Awards are reminded that submissions must in by 5pm this Friday, July 24. Entrants have to be in business for at least two fiscal years, with a minimum turnover of €100k. The awards are open to companies which produce and market products and operate in the Republic.
Imported or rebranded products are not eligible. Entrants must be members of Origin Green or have applied to join the scheme. Where a Bord Bia quality assurance scheme exists for the core product, it must be quality assured. Helen King, Bord Bia’s director of consumer insight (above), says companies may enter several categories once they meet the criteria.
Bord Bia reserves the right to re-assign an entry to another category if deemed more appropriate. Applications which do not include adequate financial details will not be accepted. Category winners will be announced at the awards ceremony in the Mansion House on Thursday, November 12. Guest speaker will be Ireland rugby coach Joe Schmidt.
The eight award categories are in branding, consumer insight, digital marketing, enterprise, export, innovation, success at home and sustainability. This year’s 10 judges include Gordon Campbell, Spar International; David Cotter, P&G Ireland; Martina McDonnell, Facebook; Gary Flynn, Google and John Fanning, who chairs Bord Bia’s Brand Forum.
