DIT marketing student Heffernan wins world prize

Brian Heffernan, a marketing graduate from the DIT College of Business, has won the global prize at the Undergraduate Awards 2018. Heffernan won for a submission based on his research exploring how Generation Z use Instagram to curate their online and offline personas. He collected his prize at the Global Undergraduate Summit 2018 held in Dublin.

The Undergraduate Awards are regarded as the world’s leading programme recognising undergraduate work and shares the work with a global audience. A native of Malahide, Heffernan won in the business category for his paper – ‘An Exploration into Online Impression Management and the Selective Self-Presentation Strategies of Generation Z on Instagram’.

Heffernan paid tribute to the expert guidance he received from Dr Tara Rooney at the School of Marketing in DIT, who constantly pushed him in his research. Dr Kate Ui Ghallachoir, head of the School of Marketing in DIT College of Business, praised his achievement. She said it was a testament to his talent, detailed rigorous research and creative thinking.
