Flogas has announced the extension of its sponsorship of the inaugural Irish Scratch Series. Over 350 elite amateurs and golfing pros took part in the tournament, designed to give players their first taste of competition following the Covid-19 lockdown. It is a unique golf tournament in that it allows male and female golfers to compete together for the same prize.
The weekly series continues until the end of August, with the final at the K Club.
Organisers GK Events and PR plan to launch a new weekly autumn/winter series from September until the end of the year on different courses around Ireland. At Seapoint Golf Links, amateur player Lauren Walsh (pictured), who teed off alongside pro Leona Maguire, shot a gross 65 (seven under) to win the fourth series and the €1,100 weekly prize fund.
The series will now be played between Seapoint and the K Club’s Palmer South course.
The final will be held on the Ryder Cup Palmer North Course on August 31. Among Ireland’s pros taking part are Jonathan Cauldwell, Paul McBride, Leona Maguire, Conor O’Rourke, Jonathan Yates and Dermot McElroy. Top Irish amateur players include Olivia Mehaffey, Lauren Walsh, Peter O’Keefe, Marc Boucher and Max Kennedy.
Flogas also supports Irish golfers with preferential energy rates for clubs and their players.
