Bonfire co-founder Seán Hynes and Margaret Gilsenan (above), partner and planning director at Boys + Girls, have joined the board of IAPI. Gilsenan has over 25 years’ experience in planning. She was board planning director in McConnells until 2009, when she and five others set up Boys + Girls, building the business, client base and people from scratch.
Gilsenan has worked on some of the country’s biggest accounts, winning creative and effectiveness awards. She has served on the board of the Marketing Society, Plan International Ireland and worked until last year on the Peter McVerry Trust Wexford Cycle. She also guest lectured at DIT, UCD and the Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School.
Seán Hynes has moved seamlessly from junior art director to creative director to joint agency owner, producing campaigns for many of Ireland’s blue-chip accounts at Hunters and other agencies. In fact, if Seán had been sentenced to ‘life’ in advertising, he would have been out by now. He has a passion for design and rolling out brand identities.
Hynes and Gilsenan join the existing IAPI board of Jimmy Murphy, president (Publicis); Garret O’Beirne, vice president (OMG); Charlotte Barker (Dynamo); Arthur Byrne (Core); Fiona Field (Mediaworks); Gemma Gilmore (Spark Foundry); Mark Nutley (freelance); John Mathews (In the Company of Huskies) and Ray Sheerin (Chemistry).
IAPI outgoing members are Emma O’Doherty, Mindshare and Patrick McConville, Wondr.
