Irish owned audio-visual designer Ion Solutions created and installed the €1.4 million state-of-the-art technology in the RTÉ News studio, home to the Six One News, Nine O’Clock News, One O’Clock News, The Week in Politics, Budget coverage, Referendum results coverage, and other special events live programme coverage such as commemorations.
Studio 3 is the busiest TV studio in Ireland, broadcasting over 1,700 news bulletins and programmes every year. Ion Solutions’ tech team designed the bracket system allowing the video wall to be installed close to the studio perimeter. Compared to a standard bracket system, the special design increased space on the studio floor by 30 square metres.
Headquartered in Sandyford with over 70 employees, Ion Solutions was formed in early 2018 when sister companies Eurotek Ireland and Avtek merged. Clients include Ireland West Airport, TG4, the Convention Centre, Kerry Group, Croke Park and the SSE Arena in Belfast. They have also handled various projects for the Virgin Media group.
