Irish Sun to launch Sunday edition

Glenda Gilson

News International has announced the launch of its first ever Sunday edition of the Irish Sun this weekend. The paper will cost €1 in Ireland, while its UK edition will sell for 50p. The paper will feature investigations editor Paul Williams and former Manchester United player Roy Keane will be a regular columnist. Fabulous magazine will be part of the new Sunday with celebrity interviews, fashion and beauty tips. TV3’s Xposé presenter Glenda Gilson (above) will have a column about fashion must-haves, gossip and a run-down on social events.

Oliver Keenaghan, general manager, News International Ireland, said: “While our competitors face difficult times and have cut back expenditure, we will continue investing in our two Irish publications – the Irish Sun and The Sunday Times. We’re excited about the future plans we have in place for these newspapers and believe this continued investment in our titles will position us well for the future.”  Latest TGI figures for the Republic of Ireland show an average 318,000 people read the Irish Sun Monday to Saturday last year.
