Former journalist and PR executive Declan Kelly has resigned as US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s special economic envoy to Northern Ireland to pursue commercial interests after almost two years in the job. Kelly worked alongside Invest NI and senior politicians in Belfast to bring US investment to the North.
Tributes were paid to him by Ms Clinton, the North’s First Minister Peter Robinson, Deputy First Minister Martin McGuinness, SDLP leader Margaret Ritchie and the Alliance Party’s Stephen Farry. Kelly, 42, was a business journalist with the Irish Examiner and worked with Murray Consultants, Fleishman-Hillard and FD.
